Symbols and Patches

The Mizu Gami patch (also called Megami by other Isshinryu practitioners) should be worn proudly by all Isshinryu students.  In our dojo, students earn the right to wear the Mizu Gami patch.  Students must finish the basics (also called ‘chart’) plus pinans 1 and 2 to earn the patch.

Here’s some more info on the Mizu Gami patch from the Carlisle Isshinryu Karate Club website.

Sensei Kadar is working on a dojo patch.

One of the patches Sensei wears on her gi is a black and white Okinawan Karate patch.  She earned the right to wear the patch when she was promoted to black belt many years ago.  The patch is a black and white version of the red and white symbol at the top of the dojo webpages.
